COURSE 1A: Fire Prevention, ADA & Life Safety Code
Dominic Marinelli is a Governor Cuomo appointee to the New York State Building Codes Council and has worked to develop the accessibility requirements in the 2010 ADA Standards, the Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines, the Building Code of New York State and the American National Standard Institute for Accessible & Usable Buildings and Facilities (A117.1 – 2009).
The session, provided by one of the longest-tenured providers for Continuing Education for the AIA, will review applicable city, state and federal accessibility requirements impacting new construction and existing buildings, exceptions, problem applications areas and preparing for accessibility complaints.
Specific topics will include: Exterior and interior accessible routes, accessible parking, entrances and bathrooms in Commercial Occupancies and understanding the New York State Building Code supplement’s impact on Residential Occupancies.
The next edition of the New York City and New York State Building Code will also be discussed.

How to meet or exceed the owner’s sustainability and resiliency goals through parametric energy modeling and leveraging NYSERDA technical assistance and funding incentives.
Understanding the role and benefits of eQUEST modeling.
Understanding role and benefits of parametric runs during the design process.
Understanding the role and benefits of a NYSERDA energy consultant.
Understanding how to leverage NYSERDA technical assistance and implementation incentives to help meet or exceed the owner’s sustainability and resiliency goals.
