 MISSION:

The AIA Westchester + Hudson Valley Design Awards Program will honor projects exhibiting excellence in design. The Program’s goals are to recognize local architects who have made a positive contribution to the built environment, and as a result have increased public awareness of quality architectural design.

ELIGIBILITY:

Completed or unbuilt work by a licensed Architect, Associate AIA member, or firm located within the chapter area. In the case of firms with multiple offices - the office based within the chapter area must be the primary office producing the work. The work must be completed between January 2020 and August 2023. There is no limit to the number of projects submitted and applicants are encouraged to submit as many projects as desired.

Walter P. Hauser, AIA, is Vice President and Principal of KG+D Architects, PC where he has spent over 19 years contributing to the legacy of the Westchester firm, which was named the 2022 Firm of the Year by the AIA New York State Chapter.

As a leader of a firm with the mission of improving the social infrastructure of our communities by creating sustainable, flexible, and lasting structures and environments, Walter’s significant contributions can be seen throughout the region. Some of the notable, award winning, Westchester/Hudson Valley projects that Walter has led include projects for the Middletown ECSD, Croton Harmon CSD, Putnam Valley CSD, Trinity Pawling School, and Yale University.

As a committed AIA member and a leader of a team of emerging professionals, Walt values making great architects while making great architecture and believes supporting the architectural community is an important part of the profession.

Walter earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Architecture from Trinity College and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a lifelong resident of Pawling, NY where he currently resides with his wife, two children and two dogs.

Victoria Cuddy, AIA  is an Associate at PBDW Architects where she has worked since 2011 and proven her leadership on increasingly complex projects, finding a special expertise within new design and adaptive reuse projects.

Most recently, she served as project manager for the adaptive reuse of the Brooklyn Rapid Transit power station for Powerhouse Arts, a new facility for the fabrication of large scale works of art along the Gowanus Canal. Ms. Cuddy has also worked for many years with the Park Avenue Armory on the restoration and adaptive reuse of this city and national landmark to create a cultural and performing arts venue. She has completed several commercial and hospitality projects for The Beacon Hotel and Equinox Fitness Clubs (including their flagship club and spa) and is currently working on the design and adaptive reuse of an historic home into a boutique hotel in Connecticut.

Ms. Cuddy received her Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College and her Master of Architecture from Parsons New School for Design. She has provided pro-bono services for the Hispanic Resource Center in Mamaroneck and has served as Alumni Vice President and Reunion Chair for her alma mater, where she has also volunteered as a panel speaker at their annual Architectural Studies Symposium.

VOLUNTEER

The Sustainability Committee is looking for volunteers to serve on the task force planning the Sustainability Symposium in October.

This first ever, day-long event will highlight sustainability in the built world and will offer the opportunity for continuing education and trade partners.

The Task group meets twice a month starting at the end of July, for one hour each, and will plan the venue, speakers, setups, topics, sponsors.
