This in-depth, educational tour of the DURATION Moulding & Millwork manufacturing facility offers architects and design professionals an inside look at the production and fabrication of next level Poly-Ash exterior trim, moulding, panels, siding and custom millwork. Moving beyond traditional materials, this session explores the science behind Poly-Ash—a low-maintenance composite material that captures the aesthetic attributes of natural wood while outperforming other composite products such as PVC, fiber cement and polyurethane (or list engineered wood instead?) to prevent rot, moisture infiltration, and warping. Participants will follow the production process from base material to finished artisanal products, witnessing how modern fabrication techniques can be used to meet aesthetic, environmental, historical, and in some cases, structural requirements for exterior applications.

Learning Objectives:

1. Analyze Poly-Ash Composition: Compare the performance attributes of Poly-Ash technology to

traditional exterior materials (natural wood, PVC, fiber cement) in terms of moisture resistance,

durability, paintability and fire resistance.

2. Evaluate Moisture Mitigation: Examine the manufacturing and installation processes that

enable Poly-Ash to resist water absorption, preventing decay and enhancing the longevity of the

building envelope (HSW).

3. Discuss Performance: Understand the physical properties of Poly-Ash, specifically regarding

sustainability, dimensional stability, paint adhesion, thermal expansion/contraction and mill

ability.

4. Evaluate Installation & Sustainability: Identify best practices for the proper installation,

fastening, and coating of high-performance poly-ash millwork to prevent jobsite failure and

ensure occupant safety and structural longevity (HSW).
