Social Media

The AIAWHV Social Media Committee uses different mediums to validate, compose, and share Chapter News with the membership and the public.

Budget and Finance

The AIAWHV Budget and Finance Committee works with the Executive Director and Treasurer to supervise the Chapter's budget and investments. The committee recommends appropriate actions to be taken by the Board of Directors.

Nominations

The AIAWHV Nominations Committee is an elected body that submits the elective slate to the Board of Directors and the membership at the Annual Meeting. The committee includes six members: the current Executive Committee, the Immediate Past President, and the Executive Director. All AIAWHV members are welcome to submit recommendations to the Committee for consideration.

Summer School/Seminars

The AIA WHV Expo Committee assembles exhilarating speakers for the annual Expo Event to further the membership’s education and knowledge on the latest subject matter, current trends, and innovative products.

Golf Outing

The AIA WHV Golf Outing Committee promotes interaction between the architectural professions, allied professionals, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers through their annual event. Money raised supports the AIA WHV College Scholsrship Program. Committee members plan the day’s events and promote the event to prospective players and sponsors. The event takes place in May/June

Design Awards

The AIA WHV Design Awards committee recognizes excellence in architectural design by architects with projects in our seven counties. The annual Design Awards event takes place in October/November, with project submissions due in early September; projects which are judged by a distinguished jury of AIA architects. Committee members start planning in May in various aspects, including program & jury administration, venue and catering, presentation materials and graphics, event hosting, and event photography. As a committee member, your input will help to stategize and develop the program to better serve the Chapter. The Design Awards Committee is a fun way to get involved, helping our members geth the recognition they deserve.

OUTREACH

Volunteer Service Outreach

The AIAWHV Volunteer Service Outreach committee seeks out potential outreach opportunities for our Chapter to have a positive impact on the communities within all seven counties.

Government Advocacy

The Government Advocacy Committee supports the AIAWHV by gathering government regulations and initiatives resources, coordinating policy position communication with AIANYS and AIA National, and addressing these items with membership & the public.

Scholarship

The AIA WHV Scholarship Committees supervise the requirement process and review applicants for the three scholarships available to students and graduates pursuing licensure. The AIAWHV membership feels a student's decision to study architecture should be determined by talent and perseverance, not limited by financial status.

Tours

The AIAWHV Tours Committee works to provide Membership and the Community at-large access to experience interesting architectural design from modern to quintessential. The tours are also a fun and interactive way to earn AIA credits. Committee members plan and facilitate the day’s events, promoting the event through the Chapter’swebsite. Tours are set up once a quarter.

Committee on the Environment (COTE)

The AIA WHV Sustainability Committee works to help our members respond to the Climate Embergency as designers and advocates of a sustainable, resilent, and equitable buiolt environment. The commttee organizes workshops, lectures, tours, and all-day educational events where architects who are passionate about sustainability can network and exchange ideas, builds coalitions with other organizations, advocates at the local level, and carries our message to clients and the public. The committee meets monthly on Zoom

Emerging Professionals

The AIAWHV Emerging Professionals Committee represents and advocates for Young Architects (licensed less than ten years), Associates, and Students. The committee engages the emerging design professionals through study groups, lectures, design competitions, mentorship, and networking opportunities focused on Professional Development, Design Excellence, and Public Outreach. The chapter strives to integrate the growing Associate's community into a strong voice within the AIA.
