About the Speaker:
Chris Marta, Associate AIA was Managing Director at L’Observatoire International, where he explores architectural lighting design at the intersection of technology and artistry. He also serves on the board of AIAWHV and is co-chair of the Emerging Professionals Committee. His work spans innovative lighting applications, urban installations, and immersive architectural experiences, highlighting the transformative power of light in architecture.
Event Description:
Light reveals the world. Without it, we cannot discern shape, volume, color, or texture- the very elements that create architecture. The use and application of lighting in architecture is a balancing act between technology and artistry. It can accentuate architectural detail, reinforce circadian rhythms, or transform a building with an almost magical aura. Join us as Chris Marta shares his experiences with architectural lighting, drawing on his work as Managing Director for L’Observatoire International and his explorations in the “other” facets of architecture.
